On the impossibility of "new" stone.
Stone is already old. Every slab we shape was formed under pressures and temperatures we cannot reproduce — a 200-million-year-old signature in sediment that no process can reset.
This essay explores the geological time embedded in the cold-pressed limestone slabs we use for Atelier Zero's surface objects, and what it means to claim "newness" when working with such material.
